On every Sunday in July and August you can enjoy a pleasant journey in coaches built of teak while the changing landscape passes slowly by. The line is 26 km long. It was opened as a narrow gauge line in 1872, later rebuilt to 1435 mm. It was abandoned in 1985. Since then, it has been a museum railway line operated by the Norwegian Railway Club. |
The Norwegian Heritage Trains is doing preservation of normal gauge heritage rolling stock as well as operating this rolling stock on the Norwegian Railway network. Classic trains are operated on demand for the public, companies, organizations, private parties, movie makers or during special events. Most kind of trains and traction are for hire including electrical, diesel, steam, multiple units, dining cars, saloon cars or you name it. All income of this activity is solely used for the preservation of Norwegian Railway history. |
The Gamle Vossebanen Museum Railway and Railway Museum are situated just outside Bergen, the capital of the "Fjord Land" surrounded by 7 mountains. The Museum Train consists of a steam locomotive hauling wooden built carriages from the early 1920s. Everything is restorated back to its original state by members of The Norwegian Railway Club. The Museum Train is operated during the summer season. |
